Features deprecated with Ellie 7.0 release

Ellie is evolving and we are adding new ways for customers to model and govern data across the enterprise. With the release of Ellie 7.0 we are rethinking some of Ellie’s functionality and removing features that felt redundant:

Advanced Search is replacing Models and Glossary pages

In August 2024, we introduced the new search and advanced search capabilities in Ellie. Previously, the tool had two separate pages for searching: Models, which allowed users to find models, and Glossary, which was used to search for entities.

With the release of Advanced Search, these functionalities felt redundant. Advanced Search provides a more comprehensive and flexible way to find both models and entities, addressing the limitations of the old pages. As a result, we retired the Models and Glossary pages to focus on continuously improving Advanced Search.

Entity Quick Edit is going away until the next upgrade

Based on the data, the use of the Entity Quick Edit functionality seemed very limited. We decided to disable this feature for the time being. In the coming months we plan to bring quick edit back with a freesh approach mimicking the features of the Single Entity view.

Glossary deletion of Entities from the conceptual modeling canvas

With the support of sub glossaries coming to Ellie, we wanted to ensure that no referenced entities would be deleted intentionally. This is why we are removing the ability to fully delete an entity from the glossary when it has been deleted from the conceptual. To delete an entity please go to the entity page and delete it from there.

Collections and Shared Collection restrictions are upgraded with folders and sub-glossaries

With the new release, Collections are now Folders and all the restrictions are now Folder Specific. As part of the migration, all entities that are part of a restricted collection will be moved to the restricted folder from the main glossary.

API Changes

API no longer supports fetching, updating, and deleting, entities and entity attributes by entity name is no longer supported. Learn more about the deprecated API calls in our documentation.
