Overview of New Metadata Types

http://Ellie.ai 7.10 introduces four customizable metadata types to enhance clarity and usability:

  • Text: Standard text fields for general purposes.

  • Chips: Interactive fields with either predefined options or user-generated values.

  • People: Fields to select and tag colleagues.

  • Technical Field: Read-only fields for integrations and APIs.

Additionally, all URLs entered into text metadata fields are now clickable.

How to Add New Metadata Fields

  1. Navigate to Admin Tools β†’ Entity Settings.

  2. Click + New element to create a new metadata field.

  3. Choose your desired field type from the dropdown:

    • Text (default)

    • Chips (set as free-form or predefined values)

    • People (allows tagging users)

    • Technical (read-only for integrations)

  4. Reorganize your metadata fields (optional).

Important Considerations

  • Existing metadata field types cannot be modified due to data formatting constraints.

  • You must set the type when initially creating a new metadata field.

Example Use Cases

  • Source Systems (Chips):

    • Set predefined options such as "Salesforce," "SAP," or "Google Analytics."

  • Project Tags (Free-form Chips):

    • Flexible tagging like "Q4 Launch," "GDPR Compliance," or "Marketing Analytics."

  • Entity Owner (People):

    • Tag responsible team members to clarify ownership.

  • Integration Identifiers (Technical Field):

    • Securely store IDs for external APIs and integrations.

  • Documentation Links (Clickable Links):

    • Insert direct links to related documentation or internal wikis.
